Each of us has our own getaway
far away from the ever-busy city life. It can be wandering in the nature
seeking for peace that the city has failed to give or spending some quality
time with friends and family. For me, one such getaway is food. Food is
undoubtedly the best stress buster apart from the several things I do like
Painting and Crafting. The reason food has become an emotion rather than just
an immense necessity is because of the fact that I have one of the best foodie families.
This ritual has started right when I was young. I still remember the restaurant
we often visited, and the 6-year-old me called it “The Green Hotel” because of
the light green décor the hotel had. My excitement knew no bounds when I learned
that we were going to celebrate occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, or any
special gathering @The Green Hotel. There are exactly two things I discovered
there: the cute dwarf tree kept for decoration under the artificial lighting and
the amazing Hara Bara Kebab with a cashew nut sticking on the kebab (I was
there only for the cashew nut though :P). Another thing I was always ready to
eat was Pav Bhaji. The love for Pav Bhaji cannot be expressed in plain words. I
still jump when I realize that Mom is making Pav Bhaji, the feeling is just out
of the world. There are a series of things that are constantly happening at the
table, the exchange of glances eagerly waiting for the food to arrive, the
talks, or sharing food (rather love) among each one of us. That is special. And
let me tell you this feeling is not restricted to just one cuisine. We are diehard fans for South Indian food too be it Vada Sambhar, Idli Sambhar, Masala Dosa, or
Filter Coffee. The South Indian blood runs in our veins and seems to be just
inseparable. It really becomes insignificant if you have savored Masala dosa
and ended it without having a cup of coffee (similar to no icing on the cake…haha).
For me, the importance of enjoying food begins when the concentration level is
100%, and there are absolutely no distractions. Therefore it (FOOOOD) always
lets me forget the immediate worries that are running in my head and helps me
enjoy the moment. I have always practiced this mantra when I am really confused
or indecisive; this definitely has worked every single time. For example, Going
out for ice-cream just a day before my final project presentation or dinner at
my favorite restaurant. Also, this is possible only at the cost of calories,
sometimes you got to let your happiness be measured in calories and do not
forget to burn them. ALWAYS!!!!
